Youzeum

Hey everyone! Our weekend was filled with errand running. Today we took Caylea to the Youzeum, which is kinda like a children's discovery museum. It was pretty cool. Much better for her age than the museum in Blm. So here are a few pictures for ya.

Have I mentioned how much I dislike the wild things running around our backyard at night? The other night Magnus took off after something, I think it was a fox. But he was on his own, no way was I chasing him. So he is no longer allowed out at night since he'll go after whatever is out there. Every time I go out I can see these red eyes coming out of the pitch black woods. Freaky. Last night I took Jazz out around 2:30am and had just picked her up to bring her in when this thing started barking at me. I'm assuming it was a coyote. But he was not too far away standing up on the little hill behind our house. I'm not sure if he was mad I was there or mad that I had picked up Jazz. Regardless I high-tailed it back inside! So, from now on I'm armed with a flashlight, a big ole' black baton, and taking the puppy out on a leash.

Caylea playing guitar hero with Jazzie on her lap. We bought Aerosmith Guitar Hero and we were pretty disappointed with it. A lot of their older songs that aren't really known are on there and you have to play each song as it comes up, you can't choose on your own. We were bored to tears while playing it. We kept waiting for it to get better and it never did.
At the Youzeum, you could sit at a desk and "interview" the mayor, the fire chief, and some sports people from Mizzou. It was "broadcast" on this tv. It was pretty cool.
More Youzeum

My new pink toolkit! : ) Last week we got to go to a few houses and sketch them and evaluate some damage scenarios. It was a lot of fun. I'm learning a ton.

Emergency vet trip

We had a little excitement on Sunday night....Jazz followed Caylea upstairs and decided to come back down on her own. She must've tumbled down the stairs because all we heard was her yelping like crazy. So when I went to get her, she had her little leg way up and to the side. We thought for sure she had broken her leg. So off to the emergency vet we go. She threw up on me 3 times on the way, due to what we presumed was pain. Of course by the time we got to the vet she was walking on her leg again. So turned out it was nothing, maybe just a bad sprain. She was the hit of the night at the vet and they completely spoiled her. So turns out, she gets carsick. Badly. As proven by her 4th time of throwing up on me on the way home. Taking care of puppies is like having a baby in the house....up all hours of the night, trips to the emergency room, covered in vomit. I'm pretty much exhausted! Good thing she is so cute I can't get mad at her.

Long weekend

Hope everyone had a good 4th! We stayed home and just relaxed. We were all too tired to really fight crowds and try to go anywhere. We went to see Wall-E on Saturday and hit the pool today.
Our visitor on the 4th....we caught this guy trying to sneak in the house.
It's great not having any backyard neighbors, but we have all kinds of crazy animals and bugs and things that I'm not real fond of running into in the middle of the night when taking the puppy out.

Magnus and Jazzie play constantly now. They like to play tug of war. Usually Jazzie wants whatever toy Magnus has. We took her on her first walk this weekend and she tried to just lay in the grass a lot of the time. Today was her second walk and she has the hang of it now. It definitely wears her out which is great for us.

Congrats to Dirk and Susan on their new addition, Sophie! We can't wait to meet her!!

Rock Bridge Park

Today we went to check out Rock Bridge State Park which is only about 15 minutes from our house. We hiked about 3 miles. Here are a few pics.

This is Connor's Cave. There is also the Devil's Icebox here but you have to do a guided tour into that cave because it's 30 miles of underground cave system.

The Rock Bridge

Took Jazz to the vet on Saturday, she is a whopping 4 lbs. Magnus is 92.

Jazzie loves to sleep on laps or on your neck.

Jazz and her pink elephant
Crashing after playing with the pink elephant Magnus trying to make Jazz's pillow his own
They've started to finally play together and Magnus finally is a little more gentle than he was at first
It didn't take Jazz long to learn how to sit and where to sit to get treats after going out.

Back from OK and passed with flying colors! The test was nothing compared to what we all prepared for. I went over it three times trying to figure out what I was missing because it was too easy. So I'm officially licensed for Oklahoma. Now I'm just a little carsick from the ride home and Joe's shaky driving. There was a big sports conference at our hotel last night, the Henry Iba conference to honor basketball coaches. We came back from dinner and saw a parking lot full of Aston Martin's and Lamborginis. The guys said they saw Eddie Sutton and one of the guys went and introduced himself to Bill Self. I had no idea who these people are but Bill Self was not too friendly apparently. Everyone in the bar was wearing black dresses or a tux, except for us, in our shorts and t-shirts. And we all felt VERY short next to these crazy tall guys.

Jazzie decided she liked Mag's pillow instead of her blanket. So Mags went and layed on her blanket. She is pretty energetic but when she crashes she is out. Except for at night when she doesn't like sleeping by herself. Jason said she whined a lot last night. She looks pretty funny next to Magnus. He ignored her for awhile at first but now he is paying a little more attention to her. She tries to play with him and is ok until he starts jumping around and then she gets scared.

Introducing Jazzmin

Meet the newest member of our family, Jazzmin. We call her Jazz, Caylea calls her Jazzie. We thought she was a he until we went to officially do the paperwork this morning. We went to the humane society on Saturday and these 4 puppies were brought in as we were about to leave. They are Jack-a-Bees which is part Beagle and part Jack Russell Terrier. We're hoping more Beagle. This little one was the runt and she was the sweetest. The other three puppies were quite rowdy and this little one just wanted to lay on your shoulder. We slept on it last night and did some research on the mix and decided to go for it. She'll be brought home Monday night after she gets spayed. Not real sure what Magnus will think yet, he will probably be jealous. I'm back off to Oklahoma this afternoon to take my test tomorrow. I've spent most of my free time studying so I owe a lot of you an email or phone call response. I've never taken a test before where the questions are so tricky. They said flat out that this test is meant to trip you up. And the practice tests have definitely been tricky. So I'll be studying for the next 5 hours on this road trip!

A weekend visit

We had our first visitor this weekend. Cliff came down to see us. We had a good time showing him around Columbia and catching up. We also got all our blinds hung. Of course we put Cliff to work a little bit! : ) Happy Dad's day to all the father's we know! I'm off to Oklahoma in a few hours. I'm in for a very LONG drive and not just because it's a 5 hour drive. But that's another story...
