Updates...

Well I had a few pictures of the house after unpacking some things, but somehow when I transferred them to my computer I lost them. So no new pics right now. We decided to go ahead and do the buyout with State Farm. We figured if there's a strong possibility of doing the buyout at the end of May anyways, might as well save the May house payment and duplicate utilities. The effective date for SF to take over the house is May 6th. It'll be nice to not have to worry about that anymore. We've had the basement work being done this week and that's almost finished. I've had hot water on and off this week, whenever the guys remembered to turn it back on for me. It's been a fun week. I also have a new job in Columbia as a Fire Claim rep starting 6/2. It'll be good to get some core experience but a big change after being in my current unit almost 7 years. So that's the update for now. Hopefully I'll get pictures up soon!

Trying to unpack

Hey everyone! We're slowly getting unpacked. The picture above is our stack of kitchen boxes packed up at the house in Blm. But the kitchen is unpacked now and that took forever, so hopefully it's all downhill from here. Anyone know what kind of tree/flower that is in the next picture? We have it in our front yard and I have no idea what it is but it's pretty. These trees are all over the place here. Tomorrow we're getting our appliances delivered. It will be nice to actually have a fridge.

Closing in Columbia

Hey all, we're currently in Columbia getting ready to close Tuesday morning. We did the final walk thru today with the builder. The builder is a super nice guy and was very helpful in explaining the way the house was built and the features. Turns out our yard is a lot bigger than we thought it was originally. He showed us the property line. The movers came last week and used A LOT of boxes to pack us up. Thank goodness for movers, they worked hard and saved us a ton of time. We thought we had gone through a lot to donate to charity but I think we'll have a lot more to get rid of as we unpack. I've got pictures I'll post soon!

Sir Dirk-A-Lot

Jason's team gave us a terrific send off on Friday. Dirk did his own rendition of Baby Got Back which was highly entertaining. He was very creative! The lyrics follow below. Thanks to the HR Communications team for a wonderful party!

“We Like J-Dawg” by Dirk
(Performed to the tune of “I Like Big Butts")

We like J-Dawg, we cannot lie,
My teammates can’t deny
When the Dawg walks in with an ear-to-ear grin
And a “what’s up peeps?”
It’s time to have fun
The party’s just begun
Cuz you know his attitude’s slammin’,
And his wardrobe’s always jammin’.

He loves the double Ds,
Now get out of the gutter,
That’s Dunkin Donuts brother!
Their coffee is so nice,
Add in some munchkins and it’s
Another day in paradise.

But he hates the database
With Laura all in his face,
Sayin’ “I need the One HR updates!”
He’ll get them done today!

We like J-Dawg.
Yeah we like J-Dawg.

But J-Dawg’s not alone,
He’s got support at home,
A lovely wife named Shy
Who makes the best floor pie.
He’s also a great dad,
And Caylea’s never sad,
With Nintendo she’s got it on,
Just use that cluster bomb!

Yeah we like J-Dawg.

He’s on to bigger things,
And days of HR glory,
Before you leave make sure to finish
The One HR Insight story!

So teammates (yeah!), teammates (yeah!),
Will we miss our friend J-Dawg? (heck yeah!)
So let’s tell him
Without a doubt
Everybody can yell it out –

We like J-Dawg!
We like J-Dawg!
